Result
WHEREAS, John Holley departed this life on December
15, 1942; and
WHEREAS, he was one of our leading citizens, being
born on May 29, 1862, at Slaterville, Weber County, Utah. He was
actively engaged in business in Salt Lake City for fifty-five years,
as well as serving Salt Lake City as a Councilman from January 2d,
1902, to January 1, 1912.
Mr. Holley served as a member of the House of Represen-
tatives of the State of Utah for three terms. He is survived by
his widow, Mrs. Margaret E. Holley, eight children, twenty grand-
children and twelve great grand-children. He was admired and
esteemed by all those who knew him and he gave untiringly of his
time and abilities to serve this community and endeavored to live
a life of service to his church and to humanity. His passing will
bring grief to a large host of friends and associates by whom he
was well loved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commis-
sioners of Salt Lake City for and on behalf of the citizens of said

city and the members of said Board that an expression of profound
sympathy and condolence be publicly made and that an engrossed copy
thereof be conveyed to the surviving family of John Holley.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread
upon the minutes of the Board o ommissssioners.
