WHEREAS, there has been introduced in the United States Con-
gress a certain bill denoted as Senate Bill 302 wherein it is
provided that funds would be made available for the purchase of
3000acres of private land in Little Cottonwood, Big Cottonwood,
and Millcreek Canyons to become part of the Wasatch National
Forest; and
WHEREAS, these areas have gained national prominence as year-
round recreational areas drawing great numbers of people from all
over the United States and abroad; and
WHEREAS, Salt Lake City deems it to be in its best interests
and in the interest of the public in general to preserve certain
areas in their natural state and to further protect the City's
water shed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, that this Board does fully support the
provisions of Senate Bill 302 and the efforts of Senator Frank E.
Moss in furthering its passage into law.
