ORDINANCE.
AN ORDINANCE ABOLISHING THE
office of supervisor of streets and cre-
ating the Office of supervisor of streets
and public Improvements.
Be 1t ordained by the board of com
missloners of Salt Lake City,Utah:
Section 1. That the office of super-
s of streets Is hereby abolished,and
in lieu thereof the office of supervisor
of streets and public improvements is
hereby created.

Section 2. That the supervisor of
streets and public improvements shall
have the same obligations and duties
as have been heretofore imposed by law
and ordinance upon the supervisor of
streets; and in addition thereto he
shall have charge and supervision of

=EAS in order to avoid confusion in the construction of
streets and other public improvements and to definitely
fix the responsibility for the same , it is necessary to
place the inspection of sucph work under one head and,
WHEREAS, the city is liable for the character of work and
the quality of material entering into such work and,
HERE ' is suits are now pending because of a conflict of
authority and a change in specifications,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Engineer be and
he is hereby relieved from all responsibility pertaining to
the inspection of work or materials on all public improve—
ments and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said work be done hereafter
under the inspection of the Supervisor of Streets and Public
Improvements, who shall be held responsible to the Board of
Commission for same.
