Address 42 ROLL C a, VOTING Y NA N God • Ci / I move that the resolution •e a•op Keyser �/ \ �C Knight IY Lee Mr. Chairman - - Result RESOLUTION RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE MODERNIZATION EXPOSITION SPONSORED BY SALT LAKE CITY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE An emergency resolution endorsing the Modernization Exposition to be held in Salt Lake City, May 12th to June 30th, 1934, inclusive. Whereas, the government of the City of Salt Lake wishes to cooperate with all civic organizations in any sound program for the purpose of bringing about national economic recovery; and Whereas, a repair, remodel and modernize program will do a great deal to bring about recovery; and Whereas, the Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce, Modernization Exposition, Inc.--a non-profit corporation--aided by many other civic and business organizations, are conducting the "Modernization Expo- sition" in the City of Salt Lake, on May 12th to June 30th, 1934, inclu- sive; an Whereas, the purpose of this exposition is to stimulate business recovery and increase employment in this territory; and Whereas, this resolution constitutes an emergency in that the same provides for the usual daily operation of a municipal department, now, therefore. Be it resolved, that the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salt Lake endorses "The Modernization Exposition" to be held at the Knutsford Hotel Building, Salt Lake City, Utah, from May 12th to June 30th, 1934, inclusive, and commends the Chamber of Commerce, the Modernization Exposition, Inc., and cooperating organizations, for sponsoring and directing an exposition, which is national in scope. Be it further resolved, that the government of the City of Salt Lake welcomes the many out-of-town visitors who are expected during the period of the exposition and calls upon all citizens of Salt Lake City to'join in said welcome; and Be it further resolved, that the Mayor of Salt Lake City be requested to issue a proclamation declaring the Exposition open May 12th to June 30th, 1934, inclusive, calling upon all citizens to do everything within their power to cooperate with the sponsors of the Modernization Exposition, with the view of more quickly bringing about national recovery through the fostering of employment. This resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and its approval by the Mayor.
