RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF

di SENATE BILL 309 OF THE 1979 GENERAL
LEGISLATIVE SESSION
WHEREAS, in May, 1978, the Board of Salt Lake City Commissioners
commissioned a study of the parking in the City's Central Business
District; and
WHEREAS, that study,when completed, indicated the need for a
mechanism for financing "free" parking within the Downtown area; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that implementation of such a
financing mechanism will require further enabling legislation, which
legislation has been prepared and submitted to the Utah State
Legislature as Senate Bill No. 309;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Salt Lake City
Commissioners hereby urges the Legislature of the State of Utah to
adopt Senate Bill No. 309 as a means of providing no-cost parking
to patrons of business establishments and for spreading the expenses
of maintaining such parking facilities amongst all local merchants
benefited thereby.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be for-
warded to members of the House and Senate to express the City's
support of this bill.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 14th day of February, 1979.
