Result RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, there is a continuing increase in the commission of
crime and an attendant increase in the loss of life and property;
and,
WHEREAS, there is also an increasing lack of respect for law
and order and for the officers of the law whose duty it is to
enforce the law and to protect society; and,
WHEREAS, it will require an aroused citizenry to combat this
increase in crime and attendant loss and the existing lack of
respect for law and order:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, that said Board does hereby call upon all
citizens of Salt Lake City to be actively engaged in opposing law-
lessness and in supporting the efforts of the law enforcement
agencies and officers in combating crime, apprehending offenders
and in protecting the lives and property of our citizens.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City does hereby solicit the assistance of citizens in the
following particulars:
1. To themselves observe the laws and encourage others to do
likewise.
2. To report promptly to the Police Department information
or evidence concerning the commission of crime which may come to
their knowledge.
3. To aid police officers at their request and direction,
especially when such officers appear to be in distress.
4. To refrain from participating in or encouraging unruly crowds
or gatherings, but assist in their control and in maintaining order
and quiet.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 26th day of April, 1966.
