resignation therefrom and his re-
instatement as Captain in the Salt Lake
City Police Department.

OF COMMENDATION
WHEREAS, Dewey J. Fillis has served Salt Lake City as Chief
of Police since April 6, 1966; and
WHEREAS, he did faithfully serve Salt Lake City and its residents
and was diligent and efficient in the discharge of his duties and
assignments and has served with fidelity and thoroughness; and
WHEREAS, he did, under his leadership, create a Police Department
in which the residents have faith and trust, and he did earn and
receive the respect, esteem, and confidence of the men who served
under him; and
WHEREAS, he has now voluntarily resigned as Chief of Police
and will return to the position of Captain in the Salt Lake City
Police Department;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, that it does hereby express its most sin-
cere and heartfelt appreciation for a job well done and for the
devoted and able service Chief Fillis has rendered during his term
of leadership of the Police Department. The Board does commend
Dewey J. Fillis for his great service to Salt Lake City and its
inhabitants and for the fine department which he has built. The
said Board further extends to him its wishes for a continued success-
ful career with the Salt Lake City Police Department.
The City Recorder is hereby directed to deliver a copy of
tlis Resolution to Dewey J. Fillis.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 24th day of March, , 1970.
