16 of 1981 - Accepting Carrigan Canyon Annexation Petition of approximately 160 acres of unincorporated territory RESOLUTION (Accepting Carrigan Canyon Annexation Petition For Purposes of City Council Review) WHEREAS, Salt Lake City has received a petition for the annexation of approximately 160 acres of unincorporated territory lying in Carrigan Canyon at approximately 1700-2100 South east of 2965 East, Salt Lake County, (designated at Petition No. 21 of 1981); and WHEREAS, petitioners appear to constitute the majority of the owners of real property within the proposed annexation, as shown by the last assessment rolls of Salt Lake County; and WHEREAS, said owners also appear to constitute the owners of at least one-third in value of the real property in the subject area, as shown by said assesment rolls; and WHEREAS, petitioners have caused an accurate plat or map of the territory to be made under the supervision of the City Engineer; and WHEREAS, the territory in question lies contiguous to the corporate limits of Salt Lake City and is within the area projected for municipal expansion under Salt Lake City's master policy declaration; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, that it does hereby: 1. Accept the petitioner's petition for annexation for the purpose of considering said annexation and of preparing at petitioners' expense, a policy declaration amendment and/or of a review of existing policy declarations relating to said area; and 2. Upon submission of a final recommendation from the Planning Commission direct the City Recorder to set a public hearing on review of said annexation and/or policy declaration and provide newspaper and mailed notice to petitioners and affected entities at least twenty (20) days before hearing as provided by law. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that nothing hereunder shall be construed: to vest petitioners with rights to require annexation • of said properties; to bind the City Council to finally approve said annexation; to vest petitioners with rights to develop under any particular zoning, subdivision or site devleopment ordinances; or to require Salt Lake City to exercise jurisdiction over the area until such time as the decision to annex has been made and all annexation formalities have been completed.
