WHEREAS, the Union Pacific Railroad Company has given notice
that it intends to discontinue the operation of the Nampa-Salt Lake
City Pullman Car from Salt Lake City, Utah, to Nampa, Idaho on trains
35 and 11, and from Nampa, Idaho to Salt Lake City, Utah, on trains
12 and 36, effective July 3, 1964; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of Salt Lake City is interested in
the preservation of train and pullman service to and from Salt Lake
City so that the traveling public may be adequately and comfortably
accommodated; and
WHEREAS, the discontinuance of said pullman service as contem-
plated in said notice may adversely affect the traveling public travel-
ing from and to Salt Lake City and to and from Nampa, Idaho.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, that Salt Lake City hereby opposes the proposed
discontinuance of pullman service contemplated in said notice, the
result of which would lessen in any manner service to the traveling
public.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to
C. C. Larkin, Superintendent, Utah Division, Union Pacific Railroad
Company, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
24th day of June, 1964.
