IUDEKELS,The public welfare of this community demands that
the number of saloons in Salt Lake City shall be reduced and that all
saloons of a disreputable, disorderly or law-,liolat ing character
shall be eliminated from thisioisiAlit now, therefore,
RE IT RESOLVED; that_the number of saloons in Salt Lake
City shall be redneck gvadually to 100; and in order that no injustice
may be donee to any person engaged in the liquor traffic, that such
reduction shall be accomplished by revoking licenses for cause, by
refusing licenses to any one violating the law, by refusing to con-
tinue licensing any Ton, firm or corporation conducting a
disorderly or disreputable place, and by refusing to grant to any
person, firm or corporation-not now holding a liquor license, a
license to carry on a saloon business in any locality/ or unn er any
conditionsthat would or might, in the judgment of this Council, be
detrimental to the best interests of the community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chief of Police is hereby
directed to instruct his patrolmen to exercise due diligence towards
the enforcement of the liquor"Vidinanoe and report all violations to
the City Council, so that tib dy may take each action in reference
to such oases of violation as it may deem best and proper.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted by the City Recorder to the Chief of Police.
