WHEREAS, the City Commissioners are concerned about housing problems
in Salt Lake City; and
WHEREAS, House Bill 289 would help alleviate the problem of sub-
standard housing by providing tax credits to residential owners who
remedy building code violations; and
WHEREAS, the House Bill 289 provides an incentive to owners to
improve their property by basing the amount of credit upon the work
done thereby making it advantageous for the owner to make needed
repairs.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Commissioners hereby express their
support of House Bill 289 and urge the House and Senate to pass House
Bill 289 as rapidly as possible.
