Result APPRECIATION
WHEREAS, in response to the call of the President of the United States,
and to meet an emergency, the following units of the 1st TA Bn 140th Artillery,
Utah ARNG, Headquarter Battery, Battery A, Battery B, and Battery C, were
inducted into active service in the Armed Services of the United States; and,
WHEREAS, the officers and men of said units have completed their tour
of duty and have served with such distinction and honor while so inducted
as to bring credit to Salt Lake City, and to the State of Utah, and to the
Nation generally; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City recognizes and is
deeply appreciative of the great service thus rendered to the City of Salt
Lake City and the fine example of true patriotism and loyalty which these
units have set.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT
LAKE CITY hereby expresses to the Commanding Officers of said 1st TA Bn, 140th
Artillery, Utah ARNG, Lt. Col . Henry A. Rich, Jr. , and to 1st Lt. Allen D.
Ainslie, 1st Lt. Bernus M. Bills, 1st Lt. Clarke B. Lium, Captain Robert E.
Bell , Commanding Officers, respectively, of said Headquarter Battery, Battery
A, Battery B, and Battery C, and to the officers and men of said named
Batteries on behalf of said Board and the citizens of Salt Lake City, heartiest
congratulations for the excellent record made by them while on active duty
and sincere thanks and appreciation for the loyal and patriotic service they
have rendered to our City, State and Nation.
