WHEREAS, the storage, collection, transportation and disposal
of solid wastes in the Salt Lake Metropolitan area are presently being
carried out by several units of government as well as by private

tion of all municipalities within Salt Lake County and the County of

agency for purposes of project administration; and
WHEREAS, the proposed planning project would be guided by a governing

ment alternatives, Salt Lake City Corporation will not permit the open
dumping or open burning of solid wastes, insofar as State and local laws
and ordinances allow, and environmentally sound collection and disposal
practices will be pursued; and
(5) Salt Lake City Corporation will pursue the adoption of such
ordinances as recommended by the planning project, insofar as such
ordinances provide for more efficient, economical, and environmentally
acceptable solid waste management practices and insofar as such
ordinances are in the best interests of the citizens of Salt Lake City.
