iRESOLUT I 0 :+.
I?1nC -L:3, a resolution was passed by this Council
:Tovenber 16, 1911, all approved by the Mayor on November
I7th, 1911, r-evesting the I"Iountain States Telephone aiA.
Telegraph Company to enter into an. agreement with Salt Lake
City that said company would not increase telephone rates
without the consent of said city, said city proposing in
consideration of such agreement to make no objection to the
use by said company of the property placed in the streets of
• said city by the Utah Independent Telephone Company under
the franchise of that company, (which said franchise has been
forfeited by said Utah Independent Telephone Company by
reason of the sale or alleged sale by said company to the
:Rocky Mountain Hell Telephone Company, without the consent
of Salt Lake City having been first had and obtained as
provided in said franchise) said resolution requesting the
acceptance or rejection of said proposal within ten days
from the service of said resolution upon said Mountain States
Telephone and Telegraph Company, and,
1,1IEMAS, more than ten days have elapsed since the
service of said resolution upon said company, and said
company has made no response thereto;
Now, therefore, be it
J SOLV : That said _fountain States Telephone and
Telegraph Company, and its predecessor the pocky ;Iuntain
Bell Telephone Compa. ly, and the Utah Independent Telephone
Company, are, and each of them is, hereby ordered and
directed to at once Corar:erice the removal from the streets,
avenues, alleys and other public places of Salt Lake City,

all property placed therein by the Utah Independent
. Telephone Company under the franchise granted said. company
or its predecessor in name the Utah Home Telephone Company,
and make substantial progress in the removal of said property
within ten days, to the extent at least of putt ilk; out of
use all the telephones operated. by the use of said prdperty,
and in case this order shall. not be complied tivith, the Street
Supervisor of Salt Lake is hereby ordered and directed to
then proceed it a-lediat ely to remove said property from the
streets, avenues, alleys, and other public places of th i s
city.
FU ZTIfl R :u]SOL'V1D: That said Mountain States Telephone
, and Telegraph Company is hereby ordered and directed to
immediately cease using or exercising any of the rights
granted by franchise from Salt Lake City to said. Utah home
Telephone Company or its successor the Utah Independent
Telephone Company.
