M. / Commis sionerpIMILJC AFFAIRS & FINANCE • Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, -7 '^' City Recorder Mayor gm move:na':r e':Ps'J:::::..: / Keyser Matheson - - - - OCT -7 �31 Murdock - - - - Mr.Chairman - - - pp RESOLUTION Result WHEREAS, SALT CITY, a municipal corporation of the State of Utah, owns, operates, controls, rents, leases and regulates a municipal airport in the westerly part of said city, for govern- mental and municipal purposes, with an area of 822.6 acres of land, together with hangars, running strips, buildings and equipment; and WHEREAS, said airport was originally acquired under the administration of C. Clarence Neslen as Mayor of Salt Lake City in the year of 1921 with the aid of Harry L. Finch, who was Commission- er of Parks and Public Property at that time, and which airport work was carried on to the present date by P. H. Goggin, the present Com- missioner of Parks and Public Property and William Murdoch, Commis- sioner of Public Affairs and Finance, to the end that during the year 1937 and under the direction and supervision of Mayor E. B. Erwin; George D. Keyser, Commissioner of Water Supply and Waterworks; William Murdoch, Commissioner of Public Affairs and Finance; P. H. Goggin, Commissioner of Parks and Public Property; and John B. Matheson, Com- missioner of Streets and Public Improvements; and with the aid of the Works Progress Administration of the United States government and the expenditure of over one million dollars, the said airport has been enlarged and equipped with one concrete runway and two asphaltic con- crete runways, 150 feet wide; one running east and west extending over a distance of 4700,feet north and south for a distance of 5300 from S.E. to N.W. feet, and one running diagonally/for 5300 feet; and with each runway there is provided 50 foot, shoulders on either side; that a concrete apron 300 feet in width and 1200 feet in length has been constructed in front of the administration building and a concrete apron va iy ingkimmbigx from between 100 to 200 feet in width and 1500 feet in length has been erected in front of the hangars; and said runways are being equipped irm - _,� *•` with the latest type of air marker lights, a •.- landing field air Iis being equipped with the latest type ofAmarking boundary lights and taxi strips; that a drainage system consisting of main drains extending in a northeasterly direction from the west side of the field to the east side with laterals provide complete drainage for the air field; and WHEREAS, the administration building is at the present time being enlarged to accommodate the increased demand resulting from the rapid growth in aviation and is equipped with the latest I� type of mechanical, electrical and radio devices for the regula- tion of the tremendous volume of air traffic at said airport; and WHEREAS, it is the policy of Salt Lake City to make reasonable charges for the use of said airport and its facilities and for the rental of rooms and space in the buildings and hangars located thereon and for the use of land adjoining to defray at least a portion of the expense incident to the operation of said 1 airport and to maintain said airport as one of the best equipped in landing strips and equipment to be found in the United States of America. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commission- ers of said city that said airport and the buildings thereon be and the same are hereby dedicated as an airport, to be regulated and operated by Salt Lake City in its governmental capacity and that the use of said airport shall at all times be under the con- trol and supervision of said city, and said city shall determine the location of buildings, the type of improvements thereon, make and collect reasonable charges for the use of lands, buildings and 1 facilities, police said airport and improve and maintain the same 1 as an outstanding landmark in the field of aviation.
