A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A SPECIAL
BOND ELECTION HELD APRIL 16th , 1968
WHEREAS, a special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, regularly called, was held on Monday
the 22nd day of April, 1968, at the hour of 10 o'clock A.M. at the
City and County Building, Salt Lake City, Utah, being the regular
meeting place of said Board, at which meeting there were present and
answering roll call the following, who constituted all of the City
Commissioners of Salt Lake City:
Chairman: J. Bracken Lee
Commissioners: James L. Barker, Jr.
George B. Catmull
E. J. Garn
Conrad B. Harrison
Absent: None
There were also present: City Recorder, Herman J. Hogensen
City Attorney, Homer Holmgren
Thereupon the following proceedings, among others, were duly had
and taken:
Commissioner Conrad B. Harrison moved that the Board of Commissioners
resolve itself into a canvassing board to canvass the returns of the
Special Bond Election, held in said City on Tuesday , the
16th day of April, 1968. The motion was seconded by Commissioner
E. J. Garn and was carried by unanimous vote of all Commissioners present.

Said Board immediately resolved itself into a canvassing board
and the Recorder having produced the returns, the Board proceeded to
open and canvass the votes in the manner required by law.
After completing canvass of the votes cast, the Board found the
returns to be and in all respects made in the manner and form required
by law and thereupon made an Abstract of the votes cast at said Special
Bond Election, which said Abstract was in words and figures as follows,
to-wit:
Thereupon, it was moved by Commissioner George B. Catmull and
seconded by Commissioner James L. Barker, Jr. that the Board of Com-
missioners resume its regular order of business, which motion was
carried by the unanimous vote of all the Commissioners present and
the Board of Commissioners thereupon resumed the regular order of
business.
Thereupon, Commissioner Conrad B. Harrison introduced the fol-
lowing resolution and moved its adoption, which was then read by the
Chairman in full and at length, as follows:
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salt Lake
City, Salt Lake County, State of Utah, at a special meeting thereof,
duly and regularly held, as required by law, on Monday, the 22nd
day of April, 1968, did publicly open the returns and canvass the
votes of the Special Bond Election held in said City on Tuesday
the 16th day of April, 1968, to vote upon the following question:
Shall the city of Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, State of
Utah, be authorized to issue and sell bonds of the city in the amount
of not to exceed One Million Dollars ($1,000,000) payable not more
than twenty (20) years from their date and to bear interest at a
rate or rates not in excess of six percent (6%) per annum, for the
purpose of paying all or a part of the cost of constructing and
equipping buildings and other improvements at the park and zoo
facilities owned by the city known as the Salt Lake City Zoo at the
Hogle Zoological Gardens?
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Chairman and Board of
Commissioners of the City of Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, State
of Utah:

SECTION 1. That it is hereby declared that the result of
the canvass of the votes of the Special Bond Election held in the
City of Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, Monday, the 22nd
day of April, 1968, is as follows:
Total persons challenged 9
Total persons challenged who voted 1
Total persons challenged who did not vote . . 8
Total number of spoiled ballots 4
TOTAL votes cast IN FAVOR OF THE PROPOSITION 4,752
Total votes cast AGAINST THE PROPOSITION . . 669
Total number of all Votes Received on the
Proposition 5,421
SECTION 2. That the question upon the issuance of said General
Obligation Bonds so voted upon at said Special Bond Election is hereby
declared to have been duly carried by more than a majority of the votes
cast by the qualified electors in said City voting at said election;
and that the right and power was given to said City to issue General
Obligation Bonds in the amount as specified in said question.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its passage and approval.
Passed and approved by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Salt Lake County, State of Utah, this 22nd day of April, 1968.
