Here is a Resolution, passed by the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City, Utah, requesting the Utah State Legislature to con-
sider and enact legislation for the purpose of stabilizing the housing
situation f moderate and low income people by permitting judges
to stay the execution of writs of restitution in cases where tenants
are able to make a good and sufficient showing that eviction would
cause great hardship to the families involved and in which such
tenants are not behind in rental uayrnents nor causing a nuisance or
waste upon the property.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, there is an extreme shortage of housing for
moderate and low income residents of Salt Lake City, Utah; and
WHEREAS, the eviction of moderate and low income tenants
may cause great hardship and expense to such families, including
the disruption of their children's education and instability in
the family life of these residents of Salt Lake City, Utah; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of Salt Lake City that these
conditions be alleviated by means reasonably calculated to pro-
vide a better way of life for all of its residents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, that it does hereby request the Utah
State Legislature to consider and enact legislation for the pur-
pose of stabilizing the housing situation of moderate and low
income people by permitting judges to stay the execution of writs
of restitution in cases where tenants are able to make a good
and sufficient showing that eviction would cause great hardship
to the families involved and in which such tenants are not behind
in rental payments nor causing a nuisance or waste upon the
property.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be
delivered to both houses of the Utah State Legislature for con-
sideration as they deem proper.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 25th day of May , 1972.
