Holley was a valued and trusted Salt Lake City Auditor and City Commissioner with a history of service spanning 23 years; and WHEREAS, the Board of City Commissioners is saddened to learn of his passing away on February 28, 1976; and WHEREAS, Mr. Holley has devoted his life to public and community service, having served eight years as an accountant for the State Road Commission, four terms as Salt Lake City Auditor, three years on the Salt Lake City Commission as a Public Safety Commissioner, and forty-three years working and assisting Utah handicapped residents; and WHEREAS, he has always willingly given of his time to aid and be a leader in many civic organizations; and WHEREAS, Mr. Holley was respected, admired and loved by the residents of Salt Lake City and his many friends and associates in civic and community causes; and WHEREAS, in his passing, Salt Lake City has lost one of its most respected, trusted and loyal citizeng whose compassion and concern for the handicapped and underprivileged has been a source of inspiration for all of Salt Lake City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, that it does express on its own behalf and on behalf of the residents of Salt Lake City, its profound sense of loss and its most sincere sympathy to Mr. Holley`s family for their personal bereavement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be delivered to the family of Mr. Louis E. Holley, as a token of our sympathy and deep feeling of loss.
