WHEREAS, it is the expressed desire of the Salt Lake City Commis-
sion to cooperate fully with the development of the South Shore of the
Great Salt Lake by the Utah Development of Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, the greater Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce has under-
taken to support the development of the South Shore of the Great Salt
Lake by obtaining the cooperative efforts of local and state govern-
ments and by seeking appropriate legislative funding; and
WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City Commission finds that the condition
of the South Shore of the Great Salt Lake is deplorable and that
residents of Salt Lake City and the State of Utah need and should have
adequate recreational facilities so that the people of the city and
state can enjoy the beauties of the Great Salt Lake; and
WHEREAS, visitors to Salt Lake City and the State of Utah want
to go to the Great Salt Lake and there is virtually no place to accomo-
date many thousands of visitors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City, Utah, that this Resolution expressing the desire and
intent of the Salt Lake City Commission to the Utah State Legislature
that sufficient funds be appropriated for the purpose of running the
utilities to the South Shore of the Great Salt Lake and the commence-
ment of building recreational facilities there to accomodate the
people of this state and the visitors to this state.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 15th day of February , 1977.
