WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City Council recognizes that the energy
crisis is a serious economic threat to the United States, and
WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City Council acknowledges that the most appropri-
ate way for local government to respond to this crisis is by promoting energy
conservation, and
WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City Council recognizes that the most effective
energy conservation effort is one which starts people thinking about how
they can conserve energy in their own homes and in their daily travel.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Salt Lake City Council endorses
the Energy Conservation Program which has been proposed by Mayor Wilson and
his staff as an effective means of promoting energy conservation in Salt
Lake City, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Salt Lake City Council endorses the
neighborhood planning effort contained in the Mayor's proposal as an appropri-
ate way of developing an energy conservation strategy for Salt Lake City.
Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah this
day of April, 1980.
