Presented to the Board of Commissi0Re1'S AND PASSED APR 23 1974 lam' VCITY RECC { 4 ROLL CALL g • VOTING Aye Salt Lake City,Utah, April 23 1974 Mr.Chairman ay / Greener /,/� I move that the Resolution be adopted. bbb��� / Harmsen Harrison Phillips ✓ RESOLUTION Result / / WHEREAS, Salt Lake City has adopted and is enforcing the Uniform Building Code and Zoning ordinance (Title 5 and Title 51, respectively, of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965) ; and WHEREAS, Section 5-1-20, Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, prohibits any persons, firm or corporation from erecting, constructing, enlarging, altering, repairing, improving, moving or demolishing any building or structure without first obtaining a separate building permit for each building or structure from the building inspector; and WHEREAS, the Department of Building and Housing Services must examine all plans and specifications for the proposed construction when application is made to them for a building permit. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, as follows: 1. That the Department of Building and Housing Services shall require the issuance of a permit for any construction in the community and for any substantial excavation, grading or filling. 2. That the Department of Building and Housing Services shall require review of each permit application to determine whether the proposed site and improvements will be reasonably safe from mudslides. If a proposed site and improvements are in a location that may have mudslide hazards, a further review must be made by persons qualified in geology and soils engineer- ing; and the proposed new construction, substantial improvement or grading must (1) be adequately protected against mudslide damage, and (2) not aggravate the existing hazard.
