B'; IT Ii SOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City:
That the public interest and convenience re:laire , and
that it is the intention of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City to order the followin.- improvement to be made in said City,
namely:
That there shall be established in said City under the
authority and provisions of Chapter 15 of Title 16, Compiled Laws
of Utah 1917 a lighting district to be known as Lighting District
ITo. 7 which shall comprise the followi.n street:
Third South Street between 71est Temple and Third Sast
Street in Salt Lake City;
and the lots, pieces and subdivisions of ground fronting and
abutting on said street within said limits shall de assessed
according to the benefits received from said improvement to bay
the costs and expenses thereof. The said lighting district So. 7
shall be improved by the erection and maintenance of fourteen
ornamental iron standards on each block in said district (seven
standards to be on each side of each block) each standard to
carry three inverted type ornamental 6.6 ampere luminous arc
lamps, said standards to be approximately 110 feet apart, total
number of 1 asap s in said district to be 210 and to be suoplied
• it with electric current for the illumination of the same each
{night from fifteen minutes before dark until midnight, four

' lamps in each block, however, to be lighted all night, the

ground. A part of the cost and expense of making said improve-
ment and of maintaining the same amounting to approximately

twelve per cent (12;0) shall be paid from the general fund of
Salt Lake City. The said improvement shall be maintained and i
operated for a period of three years.
iThe said proposed improvement is hereby referred to
; the City Engineer of Salt Lake City, and he is hereby directed
Ito make and file with the Ciry Recorder a report in writing `

,i containing the following particulars: I
1. Plans and specifications for the work required for
said. improvement.
2. An estimate of the cost of said improvement and of the
,incidental expenses in c aonection therewith. I
3. A diagram showing the said improvement district and the

boundaries and dimensions of the respective lots, parcels or
subdivisions of land therein, each of which subdivisions shall
I
be given a separate number in red ink upon said diagram. 1
4. A proposed assessment of the total amount of the costs
i
and expenses of the proposed improvement upon the several sub- 1
divisions of land in said district in proportion to the estimate
benefit to be received by such subdivisions, respectively, from
I said improvement, first deducting from such total estimated cost
'and expenses of said improvement, the sum of approximately
twelve per cent (12%) of such cost, to be paid and borne by the
City of Salt Lake. Said proposed assessment shall refer to such
' subdivisions upon said diagram by the respective red ink numbers
thereon, and shall show the names of the owners thereof, if

known, otherwise designating them as unknown.
It is the intention of the Board of Commissioners to
abandon service under the contract now in force with the Utah
!Power 8; Light Company for the lighting of that portion of

as provided in Lighting District No. 1 and to abrogate said
rcontract and the assessment levied pursuant thereto against the
abutting property on said Third South Street between West Temple
z;? and Second East Streets from and after the date when lighting
tt{' service shall commence pursuant to the installation and opera-

.; tion of Lighting District No. 7.
np. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners, it is
necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants
of Salt Lake City that this resolution shall take effect im-
mediately.
This resolution shall take effect upon its passage.
