RESOLUTION
Re.ult
WHEREAS, several hundred citizens in the'
vicinity of Pioneer Park, Salt Lake City, have petitioned
for the removal from the vicinity of Pioneer Park, of the
transient house operated for the benefit of the transient
unemployed alledging that the presence of a large number of
men, strangers to this community, are a menace to the safety
and destroy the peace of the neighborhood and so occupy the
park as to exclude from the benefits thereof the citizens
and their children in that neighborhood, and
WHEREAS, it appears that the claims made
are of substance and that it is to the best interests of
Salt Lake City that the headquarters for the transient
unemployed shall be in a place not in close proximity to
a public park or other place where a large number of the
citizens of Salt Lake City and their children congregate for
rest and recreation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the
Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City does hereby strongly
urge the State Advisory Committee for-P.E.R.A to remove '
from No. 379 South 2d West street, said Federal Transient
Relief Station or headquarters for transient unemployed;
that the same shall not be re-established in any place of a
similar nature but that it be segregate such a manner
as not to interfere with the pea ah safet of a ci 'gene
