RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the citizens, trees and birds of Salt Lake City have been misled throughout the
years by our present calendar which designates March 21 as the first day of spring; and
WHEREAS, the four seasons as established by the calendar are not enjoyed by those living
or growing in Salt Lake City;and
WHEREAS, we have been enjoying the fall season of the year from last September through
this March; and
WHEREAS, it is the duty of this Commission to see that the citizens, trees and birds of
Salt Lake City are misled no longer;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT
LAKE CITY that the winter season in Salt Lake City shall officially begin on March 22
and shall extend into June and that we hereby completely and officially do away with
spring altogether, since Mother Nature has seen fit to do away with spring in our area
many years ago.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
of Apri l, 1970.
