RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the week of October 1 to October 8 is being
observed as National Newspaper Week throughout the nation,
and
WHEREAS, it is fitting that such an observance be
made,
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of City Com-
missioners of Salt Lake City that we hereby highly commend
the newspapers of Salt Lake City and Utah for their adherence
to the highest principles of American journalism.
We recognise the valued service rendered by the news-
papers in perpetuating the fundamental ideals of free speech
and the right of every individual to his own opinion in mat-
ters of Government end public policy.
To the Sett Lake Tribune and Telegram and to the
Deseret News and their member newspapers in the state, we
express our sincere appreciation for honesty and the high-
est integrity in the field they occupy.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution
be submitted to the management of the Salt Lake
newspapers.
