Mr. Chairman !I ' RESOLUTION Result . . . . 6 RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, AUGUST 17, 1965, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 13, LAWS OF UTAH 1965. WHEREAS, a special election was held August 17, 1965, in Salt Lake City, Utah, pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 13, Laws of Utah 1965, at which election the registered voters within Salt Lake City voted upon the following proposition: "Shall Salt Lake City create a separate and independent Public Body, corporate and politic, which shall be known as the Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City to possess the powers and perform the functions and undertake the obligations as specified, defined and prescribed in the Utah Community Redevelopment Law contained in Chapter 13, Laws of Utah, 1965?" and, WHEREAS, on Monday, the 23rd day of August, 1965, at a special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, duly and regularly called and held, the said Board of Commissioners, sitting as a board of canvassers, as required by law, convened and did publicly canvass the returns of such election and did continue in session until the same was completed and concluded. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That it is hereby declared that the result of the canvass of the votes cast at the said special election held in Salt Lake City, Utah, Tuesday, the 17th day of August, 1965, is as follows: In favor of said proposition above stated: 4,899 Against said proposition above stated: 29,120 Spoiled and invalid ballots: None Majority against said proposition: 24,221 Total valid ballots cast: 34,019 -2- SECTION 2. That more than a majority of the votes cast at said special election were cast against said proposition and it is hereby declared that said proposition failed of approval by a majority of the registered voters of Salt Lake City, Utah, and the creation of said Redevelopment Agency was, and is, not authorized. SECTION 3. This resolution shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
