WHEREAS, Joseph S. Bergin has served as the Airport Manager of the
Salt Lake City International Airport since December 21, 1955, and was
employed as Assistant Airport Manager at said airport for approximately
five and one half years prior thereto; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Bergin served as Director of the Utah State Aeronau-
tics Commission for ten years prior to employment by Salt Lake City
Corporation; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Bergin has retired from the office of Airport Manager
effective May 1, 1969; and,
WHEREAS, during the past thirty years Mr. Bergin has been instru-
mental in the development of air travel services and facilities in the
State of Utah and Salt Lake City Corporation; and,
WHEREAS, he has faithfully and diligently performed his duties
with the City during a period of phenomenal growth in the air transpor-
tation industry and has constantly exhibited the type of leadership
necessary for the expansion and growth of the Salt Lake City International
Airport to meet present and future airport needs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF
SALT LAKE CITY in its own behalf, and in behalf of the residents of Salt
Lake City, that said Board does hereby express to Mr. Joseph S. Bergin
its sincere thanks and appreciation for his devoted and capable leader-
ship in directing the affairs of the Salt Lake City International Air-
port and in promoting the public interest in aeronautics during his entire
life. Said Board further expresses its best wishes that the future will
bring added enjoyment and satisfaction to Mr. Bergin's fruitful life.
The City Recorder is hereby directed to deliver a copy of this
resolution to Mr. Bergin.
