11.1 RESOLUTION
Result
WHEREAS, there has been an alarming increase in air-hijacking
throughout the country, and
WHEREAS, the current trend of skyjacking-bombing-extortion
threats involving commercial airlines is a menace to the citizenry
of this country and this State,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, that in view of the recent airline skyjacking
which endangered the lives of passengers and crew and lead to the
arrest of a Utah man on an air piracy charge, this Board does hereby
express its concern that adequate protection is being afforded by the
airlines, including the careful screening of persons boarding aircraft
at the Salt Lake City International Airport, to prevent the re-
occurrance of such a skyjacking, and this Board further expresses its
resolve that every possible consideration be given at said airport
respecting whatever precautionary measures are necessary to cope with
the skyjacking-bombing-extortion threats.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be delivered
to the Manager of the Salt Lake City International Airport, all airlines
serving the Salt Lake City International Airport, members of the Utah
Congressional Delegation, and to the Director of the Federal Aviation
Administration.
