deen;t RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Salt Lake City is the owner of certain real
property comprising approximately 7,000 acres in Parley's
Canyon water shed and located in Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10,
11 and 12, T. 1 S., R. 2 E.; Sections 7, 8, 9, 17, 21 and 27,
T. 1 S., R. 3 E.; and Sections 13, 24, 25, 31, 35 and 36, T.
1 N., R. 2 E.; S. L. B. & M.; and
WHEREAS, said real property has heretofore been known
and designated as the Mountain Dell and Resort Farm; and
WHEREAS, the George Washington Bicentennial Commission
of Utah has petitioned to have said tract of land set aside for
the planting of trees and to be designated and known as the George
Washington Memorial Grove; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that on the two hundredth !
anniversary of George Washington Salt Lake City should pay homage
and tribute to the memory of the Father of our Country.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the real property
described in the preamble herein and heretofore known as the Mountain
Dell and Resort Farm be and it hereby is dedicated to the memory
of George Washington and shall hereafter for all time to come be
known and designated as the "GEORGE WASHINGTON MEMORIAL GROVEtt;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Salt Lake City make every
effort to stimulate the planting of trees in said area to the end
that said George Washington Memorial Grove may be a place of beauty
and a fitting monument to the memory of the Father of Our Country.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
forwarded to the George Washington Bicentennial Commission of Utah
and the United States George Washington Bicentennial Commission.
