Newman ;.— Scheid Wells Mr.Chairman. Result . . RESOLUTION — RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO ESTABLISH LIGHTING DISTRICT NO. FIVE. BE IT ORDAINED by the Boarrd of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,Utah: That the public interest and convenience require, and that it is the intention of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City to order the following improvements to be made in said City, namely: That there shall be established in said City under the authority and provisions of Chapter 96 of the Laws of Utah of 1915, a lighting district to be known as Lighting District No. Five, which shall comprise both sides of Regent street from its intersection with First South street to its intersection with Second South street. And the lots, pieces and subdivisions of ground fronting and abutting on said Regent street within said limits shall be assessed according to the benefits received from said improvement to pay the cost and expense thereof; the said Lighting District No. Five shall be improved by the erection and maintenance of eleven appropriate standards of special design along said Regent street between First South and Second South streets in said district, said standards to be about 125 feet apart and on both sides of the street and each standard to carry a single unit 6.6 ampere Magnetite series arc lamp similar to ones installed under Lighting District No. 2, end said lamps, eleven (11) in number, to be supplied with electric current for the -2- illumination of the same from fifteen minutes before dusk until midnight, two of said lamps, however, to belighted all night. The circuits for the operation of the said system of lamps shall be underground. A part of the cost and expense of making the said improvement and of maintaining the same, to-wit: the cost of operating the two all-night lamps in this system, shall be paid from the general funds of Salt Lake City, the abutters to pay for the operation of the nine midnight lamps and the entire cost of the installation. The said improvement shall be maintained for the period of three years. The said proposed improvement is hereby referred to the City Engineer of Salt Lake City, and he is hereby directed to make and file with the City Recorder a report in writing con- taining the following particulars: 1. plans and specifications for the work required for said improvements. 2. An estimate of the cost of said improvement and of the incidental expenses in connection therewith. 3. A diagram of the said improvement district and the boundaries and dimensions of the respective lots, parcels or subdivisions of land therein, each of which subdivision shall be given a separate number in red ink upon said diagram. 4. A proposed assessment of the total amount of the cost and expense of the proposed improvement upon the several subdivisions of land in said district in proportion to the estimated benefit to be received by said subdivision respectively, from said improvement, first deducting from such total estimate. cost and expense of operation of the two all-night lamps by the City G` Salt Lake. Said proposed assessment shall refer to such subdi- visions upon said diagram from the respective red ink numbers thereon, and shall show the names of the owners thereof, if -3- known, otherwise designating them as unknown.
