Result . . . .
WHEREAS, all public and private organizations have been
called upon to work together in the interest of world peace
and international understanding during this International
Cooperation Year as proclaimed by the United Nations, and
WHEREAS, we join with our fellow men throughout the world
to express our profound concern for the hopes and aspirations
of all free men everywhere, and
WHEREAS, the present state of world affairs makes it
especially fitting that we reaffirm our faith in the Rule of
Law and in the supremancy of Government by laws rather than men,
and
WHEREAS, we recognize that the principle of representative
government, with its ideals of equal justice, equal opportunity,
and the protection of the rights of all citizens is based upon
the existence of law administered by independent courts, and
WHEREAS, mankind's most practical hope for peace lies in
the willingness of all men to work together to build an orderly
world community under the Rule of Law,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners
of Salt Lake City, Utah, on this the 7th day of September, 1965,
that we proclaim our support of WORLD LAW DAY on September 13,
1965, and we enjoin all men of goodwill to observe this occasion
to demonstrate the importance of the law in mankind's quest for
world peace by appropriate public observances.
ADOPTED by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah, this 7th day of September, 1965.
