Fisher since November 1, 1952, has served as Battalion Chief in the Salt Lake City Fire Department; and WHEREAS, Battalion Chief Fisher has served in the Fire Department of Salt Lake City a total of thirty-five years having been appointed to the de- partment on May 6, 1931, as a Fireman 3rd Grade and during the ensuing time has risen through the ranks to his present position of great responsibility, having served in many capacities within that department. WHEREAS, during his long tenure of service with Salt Lake City, he has served with fidelity and efficiency, discharging faithfully and ably each assignment of duty, thereby rending to the Fire Department and to the in- habitants of Salt Lake City indispensable service in the protection of their property and person being at all times a credit to the department and to the city, and WHEREAS, Battalion Chief Fisher has voluntarily resigned from his position and employment in the Fire Department and such resignation to be effective August 1, 1966. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City that it does hereby express to James M. Fisher its sincere appreciation and gratitude for the devoted and capable service he has rendered to the Fire Department of Salt Lake City and to the inhabitants and citizens of said city. Said Board extends to him its best wishes for happiness and success in his days of retirement. The City Recorder is hereby directed to deliver to James M. Fisher a copy of this resolution.
