of Salt Lake City, and
177HER i.S, It is highly desirable that a portion
of said reservation adjacent to the residence section of
Salt Lace City be utilized and improved for park, play
ground and recreation purposes for the benefit of the
public.
POW THEHEFORE, Se it resolved that the Board of
Commissioners do hereby request of the United States Govern-
ment that a tract of land of approximately two hundred
acres in extent located in the satthwest portion of said
Ft. Douglas Military ?eservation, be leased to Salt Lske
City, to be improved and maintained by it as a public park,
play ground and recreation field, and
BE IT FURT= 2ESCLV_3D, That said City, in the
event the United States Government makes this lease, will
not claim or acquire any peruarent righte of ownership or
title in the land so leased to it, and that said City will
agree to vacate said land and turn tno same back to the
United States Government at any time upon ninety days notice
in writing so to do, except that in case of war or similar

emergency it will turn baci: and relinquish its control over
said land to the United States Government upon written request
and without notice, and
BE IT FLRT?ih. RESOLVED, That said land will be im-
proved in such a way as not to conflict with any uses the
United States Government may desire to is-•ske of said land for
reservation purposes,and that any buildinGs or other structures
placed thereon will be removed by said City at the expiration
of said lease at its own expanse, and
B3 IT FURTHER R- GOLVED, That a certified copy of this
resolution be forwarded to the proper officials of the United
States Government by the City Recorder.
In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners it is
necessary to the health, peace and safety of the inhabitants
of said City that this resolution t«e effect immediately.
This resolution shall tai ef° t upon its passage.
