Presented to the Board of Commissioners AND PASSED NOV 141949 CITY RECORDER ii PROCLAMATION OF MAYOR. WHEREAS, at the General Municipal Election held on Tues- 11day, the 8th day of November, 1949, there was submitted to the i voters of Salt Lake City, Utah, a proposed ordinance initiated by ,petition of the electors of Salt Lake City, said proposed ordinance! being in words and figures as follows: "AN ORDINANCE ADDING A NEW SECTION TO CHAPTER XXIX OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 1944, TO BE KNOWN AS SECTION 2920 AND FIXING THE NUMBER OF HOURS THAT }} MEMBERS OF THE COMBAT DIVISION OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF SALT LAKE CITY SHALL BE REQUIRED TO WORK AT NOT TO EXCEED SIXTY- ;, THREE HOURS IN ANY ONE WEEK. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City: SEC. 1. There is hereby added a new section to Chapter XXIX of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 19LJ, to be known as Section 2920, and to read as follows: 'SEC. 2920. Members of the Salt Lake City Fire De- partment regularly assigned to duty in the Combat Divi- sion shall not be required to work more than an average �F. of sixty-three hours in any one week; provided, however, members off duty will be subject to call at any time in cases of emergency. The method of working such hours • shall be designated by the Chief of the Department, sub ject to approval by the Board of Commissioners of Salt • Lake City. ' 'I SEC. 2. This ordinance shall take effect as of January 1, 1950." AND, WHEREAS, a canvass of the votes cast for and against • ' said ordinance at said election was duly made on Monday, November 14th, 1949, and the City Recorder has certified to the undersigned Mayor of Salt Lake City the vote for and against said ordinance; showing that _25.197 votes were cast for said ordinance and 6177 votes were cast against said ordinance, and it appear ing therefrom that the greatest number of votes were cast in favor; - 1 of said ordinance and that such number of affirmative votes is a --mumempr-"" -2- majority of those voting thereon: NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the Statutes of the State of Utah in such cases made and provided, I, EARL J. GLADE, Mayor of Salt Lake City, Utah, do hereby proclaim the said ordinance above set out to be in full force and effect by its terms as of January 1, 1950, as an ordi- nance of the City of Salt Lake City, State of Utah. Glade, the duly elected, qualified and acting Mayor of Salt Lake City, Utah, proclaiming that the Initiated Ordinance pertaining to a reduction of hours of members of the Fire Combat Division of Salt Lake City, Utah, as put to vote at the Municipal Election held November 8th, 1949, was duly approved by a majority of those voting thereon and shall be in full force and effect by its terms as of January 1, 1950. S UTION Result A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD NOVEMBER 8th, 1949- WHEREAS, a Municipal Election was held on Tuesday, the 8th day of November, A. D. 1949, in the City of Salt Lake City, and WHEREAS, on Monday, the 14th day of November, 1949, the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, sitting as a Board of Canvassers, as required by law, convened and did publicly can- vass the returns of such election, and did continue in session until the same was concluded, and WHEREAS, on this 14th day of November, A. D. 1949, having completed said canvass, the Board does find from such canvass, that the following named persons were elected from a plurality of votes cast, to the offices set opposite their respective names: CITY COMMISSIONERS. JOE L. CHRISTENSEN, Commissioner four-year term B. E. LINGENFEL'1'EH, Commissioner four-year term CITY AUDITOR. LOUIS E.
