Kasai expressing the appreciation of the City Commission and the Community for his timely and public-spirited efforts in behalf of the inhab- itants of Salt Lake City. Kasai departed this life on the 28th day of January, 1966; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kasai, while born in Japan, spent practically all of his adult life in Utah and devoted himself to promote understanding and good will between the citizens of his native country and his adopted country; and WHEREAS, he exerted great influence and participated in many civic activities that added much to the progress and well-being of Salt Lake City and the State of Utah; and WHEREAS, he served long and well in the Boy Scout organization in Salt Lake City and was greatly honored and respected for his services to the youth of this city; and WHEREAS, his kindly and friendly spirit endeared him to all who knew him: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, that tribute is hereby expressed for the life and work of Henry Y. Kasai; for his fine contribution to the welfare and growth of this city and state, and for his loyal and indefatigable services to the citizens of both his native and adopted lands. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City do hereby express their deep sympathy on behalf of them- selves and the citizens of Salt Lake City to the family of Mr. Kasai. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Recorder transmit a copy of this resolution to the family of Mr. Kasai.
