Greener 1 ¢ L , Harmsen Harrison Phillips RESOLUTION Result WHEREAS, a bill has been proposed to the 1975 Session of the Utah State Legislature, which bill is designated as Senate Bill No. 75; and WHEREAS, said bill, if enacted into law, would allow police and other public enforcement officers to issue citations for misdemeanor vio- lations in lieu of arrest or in lieu of the filing and service of a criminal complaint and summons; and WHEREAS, such a mechanism is a means of avoiding unnecessary expense and delay often involved in arrest or formal summons procedure; and WHEREAS, a misdemeanor citation system would be a substantial contri- bution to the efficiency of law enforcement activities in the State.
