RESOLUTION
Result
/ OF APPRECIATION
WHEREAS, on December 8, 1975, the Congress Hotel caught fire and
burned totally destroying the building; and
WHEREAS, without the assistance of the Department of Building and
Housing Services, many of the former residents of the Congress Hotel,
dispossessed as a result of a fire in the hotel on December 8, 1975, would
have been homeless and uncared for just prior to the Christmas season; and
WHEREAS, because of the diligent and untiring service of the
Department of Building and Housing Services, every person located in the
hotel were relocated and comfortably situated, as much as could possibly
be done, at this time prior to the Christmas season.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City, Utah, on behalf of themselves and all the residents of
Salt Lake City, that it does hereby express its sincere appreciation and
gratitude to said Department of Building and Housing Services, and hereby
commends them for their dedication and noteworthy service in this emergency.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be delivered
to the Salt Lake City Department of Building and Housing Services.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, this 6th
day of January, 1976.
