RESOLUTION
Result
WHEREAS, Patrick J. Moran, on October 16, 1936, answered
his final summons after a long career of exceptional usefulness
and service in the community; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting that the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City should at this time record its appreciation of the
splendid character and worth of Mr. Moran; and
WHEREAS-, his departure is a substantial loss to Salt Lake
City and its citizens and a deep sorrow to the Board of Commissioners
and other city officials, all of whom held him in the highest esteem.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commission-
ers of Salt Lake City does hereby express its high appreciation of
the fine character and public career of Mr. Moran. He served the city
in 1891, being elected to the territorial council by the Liberal party
and then was elected from the Fourth precinct serving two years as
a city councilman. He was a city commissioner from 1926 to 1930, as
head of the Street Department.
For many years P. J. Moran's name was synonymous with all
major building operations in Salt Lake City and he has left erected
to his memory many of the finest buildings and public improvements
in this city.
He had a real understanding and sympathetic interest in
the problems of men and inspired the loyalty and affection of all
persons with whom he was associated.
We extend to his family our heartfelt sympathy. We share
with them the sadness of separation.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread
upon the minutes of the Board of Commissioners and that an engrossed
copy be forwarded to Mr. Moran's family.
