WHEREAS, Albert Thompson has been a member of the Salt Lake City Fire
Department for the past thirty-six years, and during said time has served
in many capacities and finally as Chief of said department; and
WHEREAS, during his long tenure of service, rising from the ranks to
the Chief of the department, he has served with great fidelity and efficiency,
discharging faithfully and ably each assignment of duty, thereby rendering
to the Fire Department- and to the residents of Salt Lake City indispensable
service in the protection of their property and persons; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure as Chief of the department he has so admin-
istered to the affairs and personnel of the department that the fire rates
in Salt Lake City have been substantially reduced; and
WHEREAS, Chief Thompson has submitted his resignation as Chief of the
Fire Department to be effective January 1, 1967:
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City that it does hereby express to Chief Albert Thompson, on behalf
of the Board and on behalf of the residents of Salt Lake City, sincere ap-
preciation and gratitude for the devoted and capable service and for the
significant contribution he has rendered to the Fire Department of Salt Lake
City and to the residents and citizens thereof. Said Board extends to him
its best wishes for happiness and success in the days to come.
The City Recorder is hereby directed to deliver to Chief Thompson a
copy of this resolution.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
6th day of September, 1966.
