WHEREAS, the Central Community of Salt Lake City includes an area
bordered on the west by Interstate 15 and on the east by 1300 East, on
the north by South Temple and North Temple Street and on the southern
boundary by 21st South and 17th South Streets; and
WHEREAS, the Central Community includes the oldest parts of the City,
houses nearly one third of the City's population and constitutes the major
employment center for the entire metropolitan area thereby creating numer-
ous complex development problems; and
WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City Planning Commission has conducted in dept
research and assembled from citizen input, policies for the future develoi
ment of the Central Community; and
WHEREAS, from the research and policies adopted the Salt Lake City
Planning Commission has prepared and adopted its general plan for future
development in the Central Community as set forth in the Salt Lake City
Central Community Development Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners believe that the adoption of the
Central Community Development Plan is in the best interests of Salt Lake
City and will promote the orderly long-range development within the Centra
Community.
NOW THEREFORE, the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City hereby
resolves that the Central Community Development Plan as heretofore adoptec
by the Salt Lake City Planning Commission and submitted to the Board of
Commissioners is adopted as the general guide for future development with
the Central Community.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
8th day of March, 1977.
