"Peggie" Barsnick commenced employment with Salt Lake City Corporation in the office of the City Recorder as a clerk-typist on February 9, 1960; and WHEREAS, she has held many positions in that office, including secretary, and administrative clerk, and was appointed to the position of Deputy City Recorder on January 8, 1975; and WHEREAS, she served with distinction and remarkable dedica- tion as Deputy City Recorder until February 15, 1981, when she was appointed Acting City Recorder; and WHEREAS, Katherine L. "Peggie" Barsnick, is universally respected among all those with whom she has served because of her cheerful disposition, sincere interest, and love and concern for others; and WHEREAS, through her years of service, she has demonstrated a constant willingness and ability to competently and efficiently aid and assist the employees, officers and residents of Salt Lake City in the performance of her duties; and WHEREAS, through her dedication to responsibility and loyalty to her fellow workers, she has been an example of going the extra mile to assist others and to ensure that the records of Salt Lake City and the functions of the office of the City Recorder have been carried out with care, accuracy, preciseness and attention to detail; and WHEREAS, she has fulfilled the duties of her office and position in a manner that is not only rare, but above that which is normally demonstrated by any but the most competent and dedicated type of individual; and WHEREAS, her efforts in fulfilling the duties of her office have often been carried out without recognition and at much personal sacrifice, at her own expense and time, often arriving early and leaving late, working through lunch hours, on weekends and holidays; and WHEREAS, Peggie Barsnick has elected to retire from employ- ment with Salt Lake City effective April 20, 1981. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Salt Lake City Council that they do collectively and individually express their heart-felt thanks and gratitude to Katherine L. "Peggie" Barsnick for her dedicated and exemplary service to the City and its residents for a period in excess of twenty-one years. IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Salt Lake City Council do hereby express on their behalf and on behalf of all of the City's residents, their fondest wish that Katherine L. "Peggie" Barsnick have many productive and happy experiences in her retirement and that she take pride and satisfaction in knowing that she has left a legacy of good will and commitment to competence through her exemplary service and loyal friendship.
