WHEREAS, the Salt Lake County Commission proposes to increase the County levy of ad valorem taxes for the next fiscal year for general county purposes from 12.90 mills to 16; and WHEREAS, such increase will be imposed upon property within Salt Lake City and will be for services and purposes for which Salt Lake City levies a tax upon the property within the City, and will result in unjustified double taxation for the benefit of unincorporated areas of Salt Lake County: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY, that the Board of Commissioners hereby protest said increase in tax levy, and urge the Board of County Commissioners to refrain from making increases in the County levy for the benefit of unincorporated areas of the County to the detriment of the incorporated areas.
