Crellin was employed by Salt Lake City as an Assistant Salt Lake City Attorney on December 1, 1958, some sixteen years ago; and WHEREAS, by virtue of his outstanding analytical and legal abilities, he was advanced to the position of City Attorney for Salt Lake City Corporation on November 19, 1968, and has served in that capacity until his resignation effective July 1, 1974; and WHEREAS, during his long tenure with Salt Lake City, he has been an outspoken and articulate spokesman for the interests of Salt Lake City and its residents; and WHEREAS, his years of service to the City have been underscored and distinguished by a remarkable degree of devotion, loyalty and unflinching consistency of principle; and WHEREAS, he has by virtue of his experience, skill and learning, been recognized, statewide, as an eminent authority on municipal law; and WHEREAS, he has accepted a position as a municipal law expert with the Attorney General's Office of the State of Utah, and has resigned his position as City Attorney; and WHEREAS, Salt Lake City is a better place in which to live because of the courageous and erudite legal leadership, which has been embodied into the procedure and fabric of City Government; and WHEREAS, his contributions will long endure and continue to be of benefit to our citizenry. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Salt Lake City Commissioners, on behalf of itself and the citizens of Salt Lake City, that it does hereby express to said Jack L. Crellin, its gratitude and appreciation for his meritorious service and devotion to the interests of the City. BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that the Board does hereby express its fondest wish that the future years will continue to prosper and favor him in all of his undertakings and desires. The City Recorder is hereby directed to deliver a copy of this Resolution to Mr. Crellin.
