Hogensen Phillips "f RESOLUT Result // The Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the Utah State House of Representatives has considered the matter of House Bill 23, an act providing for the adoption of a State Building Code, which would affect building standards throughout the City and State; and WHEREAS, it appears that the provisions of said Bill would allow local governmental entities no jurisdiction or flexibility to amend the code to meet special needs or goals of the particular community which could eventually end all local control of building regulation; and WHEREAS, the City has other concerns about the effect of said pro- posed Bill upon the ability of local government to regulate and enforce building standards and regulations effectively; and WHEREAS, said House Bill 23 has been tabled by the House of Repre- sentatives from further consideration. NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved that the Board of Commissioners hereby oppose the enactment of House Bill 23 and would strongly urge the legislature to oppose this measure as being against the best interests of the citizens and entities of local government.
