HomeMy WebLinkAbout34 of 1936 - A resolution authorizing the City Attorney to commence condemnation proceedings against property in REMARKS: Resolution No. 34 By Commissioner G°g.gi n Authorizing the City Attorney commonne condemnation proOeed- ings against property in the N.H. 1/4 of S.E. 1/4 of Sec. 32, T. 1 N., R. 1 W., Salt Lake Base & Meridian for enlargement of Salt_Lake-Municipal--Airport. resentad to the Board of Commissioners AN ri PASSIM Ci EC- ti36 "p1414,010,na, Qtrwascommat • Coggin - - r 7I move that the resolution be adopted. l eyeer - - - - -li t' ' Murdoch . • -I Lee Mr.Chairman - - -'1 Result RESOLUTION i WHEREAS, Salt Lake City, a municipal corporation of the State of Utah, has heretofore established and now maintains and operates a municipal airport located north of North Temple Street near the west boundary line of said city, and that said airport consists of buildings, hangars, run-ways and landing field and lies adjacent to the property hetainafter described; and WHEREAS, during the past five years the use of said airport and landing field has greatly increased and the aircraft has increased in size and weight to the ed.tent that the present airport and landing field is not sufficiently large enough to accommodate the normal air traffic thereon or to comply with the specifications of the United States government relating to the landing and taking off of aircraft from flying fields, and that in order to properly and safely continue to maintain and operate said airport, public buildings, hangars and landing field as aforesaid it is and is hereby declared to be necessary that said city acquire and own the hereinafter described real property for the purpose of enlarging and expanding the airport landing field and the acquisition of said property is hereby declared to be neces- sary to promote the peace, health, prosperity and safety of the in- habitants of said city and to be put to a use authorized by Sections . 4-0-17, 4-0-18 and 15-8-8, of the Revised Statutes of Utah, 1933; amd WHEREAS, Clara E. Lloyd, Louise L. Day, Elizabeth L. Platt, Victoria L. Dodge, Walter T. Lloyd and Florence L. Casting Brewster Irare the owners of said land and have refused to accept the price tendered by the city for the purchase of said property. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Attorney of Salt Lake City be and he is hereby instructed and directed to commence an action in the proper court against the owners of said property hereinafter described for the purpose of acquiring title to said i -2- land for Salt Lake City by condemnation for the purposes aforesaid said land being the following, to-wit: of E.t.a -®f Section 32, T. 1 N., n. 1 e., Salt Lake Base and Meridian. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the said City Attorney be an• he is hereby instructed to commence such proceeding at once. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners, it is nece- 1 sary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of Salt 1 Lake City that this resolution become effective at once. 1 This resolution shall take effect upon its passage.
