Harrison i r Holley. Mr. Chairman . Result . RESOLUTION OF CONDOLENCE V WHEREAS, Earl J. Glade departed this life on the 12th day of September, 1966; and WHEREAS, Mr. Glade served as Mayor of Salt Lake City for three consecutive terms from 1944 to 1956, being returned to office for a third term without opposition; and WHEREAS, during his long and unprecedented tenure of office as Mayor of Salt Lake City he served with great distinction, presiding over the affairs of the city with such grace and ability that pro- duced harmony and cooperation among the various city departments and thereby enabled the city government to make great strides in its operations and in its relations to the citizens of the city; and WHEREAS, Mr. Glade pioneered and fostered radio broadcasting in Salt Lake City and in the intermountain area, and helped to originate the coast to coast network broadcasts of the Salt Lake City Tabernacle Choir which has brought fame and honor to the city and its residents; and WHEREAS, he was active in many organizations working for the advancement and betterment of Salt Lake City in its social and cultural needs; and WHEREAS, at all times he exemplified the common virtues and exhi- bited the qualities of a true gentleman in his dealings and relations with others: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY that the Board does hereby express, in its behalf and in behalf of the residents of Salt Lake City, sincere tribute to the life and accomplishments of Earl J. Glade, and particularly for his great contribution to the government and well-being of Salt Lake City and its inhabitants. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Board does hereby express deep sympathy to the family of Mr. Glade, knowing well the place of honor' and affection which he held in the family circle and the loss that has now come by his passing. The City Recorder is directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to the family of Mr. Glade. Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City this 14th day of September, 1966. / j J.
