RESOLUTION
Result . . . .
WHEREAS, Mark Frank Miller is employed in the Salt
Lake City Water Department as a meter reader; and
WHEREAS, while in the course of reading a water meter
at the premises located at 2636 South 20th East in Salt
Lake City he detected the presence of natural gas which
alerted him to the probability of a leak in the gas line
servicing said premises; and
WHEREAS, he took immediate action to notify the gas
company of the situation and as a result the leak in the
gas line was located and repaired; and
WHEREAS, by reason of his alertness and prompt action
an explosion with its attendant injury to person and
property was timely averted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY that it does hereby express
to Mr. Miller its deep appreciation for his alertness and
for his prompt action beyond the line of his duty to Salt
Lake City as a meter reader in averting a serious catastrophe
and said Commission does hereby highly commend him for acting
as he did in the circumstances.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Recorder deliver to
Mr. Miller a suitable copy of this resolution.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah, this 22nd day of November, 1967.
