WHEREAS, tax exempt industrial development bonds for home
mortgages have and can be used beneficially to develop and promote
an economic mix in the City of Salt Lake; and
WHEREAS, HR 3712, if enacted, would cause interest on mortgage
subsidy bonds to be non exempt from Federal Income Tax, which would
thwart attempts to develop and promote an economic mik in this
community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners
of Salt Lake City, that the Board does hereby express on its own
behalf and on behalf of the citizens of Salt Lake City, Utah its
protest and desire that HR 3712 not be passed by the U.S. House of
Representatives because of the disastrous effect it would have on
the City's efforts to improve the economic mix of the City and
enhance the City's urban areas.
