WHEREAS, the Federal Government of the United States of America has
very recently enacted legislation to provide for federal assistance to
cities under the Department of Housing and Urban Development whereby cer-
tain cities throughout this nation upon making application are thereby
designated, if qualified, as demonstration cities to receive special grants
of assistance; and,
WHEREAS, Salt Lake City has been fully informed and advised on the
particulars of this program with regards to the designation of demonstration
cities and through the action of its Board of Commissioners this 15th day
of November, 1966, has determined that it is interested in becoming a
demonstration city under the above described program:
THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that Salt Lake City formally notify
and advise the Department of Housing and Urban Development of the United
States Federal Government that Salt Lake City is interested in becoming a
demonstration city under the recently enacted legislation administered by
the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the City Recorder is
hereby instructed to forward a copy of this resolution to Mr. Robert B.
Pitts, Regional Administrator of Region 6, Department of Housing and Urban
Development, 450 Golden Gate Avenue, San Francisco, California.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
22nd day of November, 1966.
