I'I RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, SAMUEL CULVER PARK, former Mayor of Salt
Lake City, departed this life after a career of exceptional
usefulness and service in the community, and
WHEREAS, it is fitting that the Board of Commission-
ers of Salt Lake City should at this time record its apprecia-
tion of the splendid character and worth of Mayor Park, and
WHEREAS, his departure is a substantial loss to the
City he so well served and a deep sorrow to the Board of Com-
missioners and other City officials, all of whom held him
in the highest esteem.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board does
hereby express its high appreciation of the fine character
and public career of Mr. Park. It was his privilege to be
the first mayor of the City under the commission form of
government. The far reaching character of his progressive
work in laying the foundations of the new system will bear
fruit for years to come. The results of his work will inure
to the benefit of generations yet unborn. The entire citizen-
ship of this splendid growing metropolis,to which he devoted
his efforts and which he loved so well, will mourn his passing.
Salt Lake City is a better city for his having lived and
served. The moral tone of the community is higher and stronger
because of his efforts. He always advocated obedience to law
1.
and order. He stood like adamant against official corruption and
civic vice. He will be remembered for his rugged integrity and
fearlessness while giving to his constituents an especially ef-
ficient business administration. His example may well be follow-
ed by all citizens having the welfare of the public at heart.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that these resolutions be spread
upon the minutes of this meeting and a copy be tendered to the
family of this worthy citizen. •
